AAC Postdoc MSCA Program 2026 (EU): Urban Belonging in Late Medieval Europe

The Autonomous University of Madrid is looking for a candidate to apply for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the framework of the Marie-Sklodowska Curie Programme 2026. The candidate and the supervisor at the Autonomous University, Dr. Carolina Obradors Suazo, will apply together to develop a project to be embedded within a broader research line: European Citizenships. Towards a semantic analysis of Urban Belonging in Late Medieval Europe (Baltic and Mediterranean areas, 14TH-15TH centuries)

Skills/Qualifications:
-Applicants must hold a PhD
-Applications are open to those having worked in any field of urban medieval history, although those with specific expertise on Northern Late Medieval Europe and the Hansa will be highly valued.
-Experience on Digital Humanities is desirable.

 

Specific Requirements:
-Willingness to move to Madrid for the duration of the fellowship, as well as to travel for research stays when necessary
-Familiarity with the language of the sources (most probably latin and/or medieval German)
-German/Scandinavian languages: desired
-Spanish: desired. (learning possibilities will be explored)

  • Additional Information

 

As a Marie-Curie Fellow at the Autonomous University the candidate will benefit from a good salary with additional monthly allowances for travel and family, as well as dedicated funds for his/her research and training expenses.

  • Eligibility criteria

 

At the call deadline, applicants must be in a possession of a doctoral degree and have no more than 8 years full-time equivalent experience in research since award of their first doctoral degree. Time spent not working in research can be taken into consideration for the purposes of this calculation.

In terms of mobility, applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the host institution for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline.
